JLPT N5 mock tests

Full length and timed like the real test: vocabulary 20 minutes, grammar and reading 40 minutes, listening 30 minutes. Your result is an estimated score against the real pass marks, with every answer explained.

What's in each mock test

Every mock has the same layout as the real N5: three timed sections in order, with the same question types in the same order. The questions differ between mocks, and listening audio plays once, as it does on the day. Each question type links to untimed practice if you want to work on it first.

New to the format? The JLPT N5 exam guide explains every question type, and the study plan covers when to start taking mocks.

How the score is estimated. The real JLPT uses scaled scoring, so no practice test can give an official score. We scale your correct answers to the official ranges (language knowledge and reading 0 to 120, listening 0 to 60) and check them against the pass marks: 80 overall, at least 38 and 19 in the two sections. Each mock uses different questions from the practice banks.
